Co-Curriculum Programme

The Co-curricular Programme  is designed to enable our pupils to extend their aspirations, skills and range of interests beyond the classroom, and to help them to develop socially and emotionally so that they can grow in maturity and self-confidence.

We encourage our pupils to join an array of clubs and societies some of which are directly linked with subject areas, such as Art, Mathematics Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science as well as other clubs in Sports, Music, Chess, Bridge, Warhammer, Drama to name a few.   This allows all pupils the opportunity to develop an interest or hobby that they are passionate about or wish to embark on something new, developing self-confidence, team building, organisation and leadership skills as well as providing a chance to make new friends. 

There are currently more than 50 lunchtime and after school clubs and societies on offer. Please click the links for Key Stage 3 co-curricular activities and Key Stage 4 co-curricular activities. Many are for all year groups, but some are dedicated to specific year groups in an effort to focus on deepening interests and knowledge.   Please note that some clubs may include an additional cost if they are provided by off-site providers.

Unfortunately, our core funding from the Department for Education does not cover the cost of running co-curricular activities. Staff volunteer their time spent in running the activities, so the expenses involved are purely the direct costs of running each club. We try to keep these to a minimum. However, we usually have to pay for materials and equipment, hire costs for some sports activities, as well as travel and refreshments for away games and trips to outside venues.
